GenAISA-projektin uutiskirje – Numero #1

Welcome to the first newsletter of the Generative AI Skills Academy (GenAISA)!
We are excited to share key updates, early achievements, and insights from our work to build the skills’ infrastructure Europe needs in the age of Generative AI.

What Is GenAISA?

GenAISA – Generatiivisen tekoälyn taitoakatemia is an Erasmus+ co-funded initiative aimed at addressing the urgent need for skills development in the fast-evolving domain of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI).

Together with a diverse European consortium of 13 partners from academia, vocational education, industry, and digital innovation, we aim to:

  • Design two tailored curricula (HE & VET) on generative AI
  • Provide mikrotunnisteet via an open MOOC-alusta
  • Develop a Digitaalisten taitojen passi to support career pathways
  • Identify future job profiles like Pikainsinööri ja Generatiivinen tekoälykehittäjä

What Have We Been Working On?

Since the Kick-Off Meeting in December 2024, the consortium has made substantial progress on:

  • A comprehensive skills gap analysis was completed, mapping current GenAI education and workforce needs
  • The foundation for our Higher Education and VET curricula was drafted
  • Initial plans for our MOOC-alusta ja Virtual Learning Environment were discussed
  • Our website www.genaisa.eu is live and growing as central knowledge hub

New Findings: Survey on AI & Generative AI Education

As part of our initial work, we conducted a pan-European survey among educators, trainers, and institutions across 16 countries to better understand the current state of GenAI education.

Key insights include:

  • 86% of respondents (HE + VET combined) already offer or plan to offer AI education
  • Only 49% (HE + VET combines) currently provide Generative AI-specific courses
  • Most GenAI offerings are limited to workshops and online courses, with few full academic programs
  • Engineering remains the dominant discipline, but there’s a growing need for business and user-centric domains
  • There are already examples of implemented professional training in artificial intelligence and big data
  • Institutions report barriers like limited funding, access to tools, ja curriculum development challenges

In parallel, our job market analysis of 15,000+ AI-related postings across the EU highlighted:

  • High demand for Python, Project Management, UX Design, ja Communication Skills
  • Soft skills are becoming just as essential as technical ones
  • New job roles are emerging across non-traditional sectors, including design, healthcare, and manufacturing

These findings are directly shaping our curriculum and training content, ensuring GenAISA delivers real-world value to learners and employers alike.

What’s Next?

  • Testing of the curricula and Digital Skills Passport will begin in the second half of 2025
  • Our MOOC and training platform will launch for pilot users in early 2026
  • Stay tuned for upcoming events, training workshops, and collaboration opportunities
