Kaunas University of Technology (KTU)

Kaunas University of Technology is the largest technical University in Lithuania that is proud of its competitive study programme portfolio, modern process of studies and infrastructure, research and experimental development, that corresponds to the business and society needs. The University fosters values, such as social responsibility, cooperation and constant improvement. KTU aims to develop a University’s ecosystem based on trust, creativity and leadership and the following missions are stipulated in its strategy: (a) for society: to be a proactive University creating a sustainable society, (b) for students and customers: to create and transfer interdisciplinary knowledge and innovative technologies that create value and (c) for each other: to cooperate and together pursue ambitious goals constantly improving with external leaders in science and business.

KTU pays a lot of attention to the promotion of fundamental and applied research in the field of AI. Thus, in 2021, KTU founded the Artificial Intelligence Centre which is responsible for the development of the University policies and coordination of the activities related to AI development, including non-formal education, and the representation of the University in national and international organisations and working parties.

KTU has 9 faculties, 8 institutes and 9 research centres. Faculty of Informatics is one of the largest centres in Lithuania offering studies in the field of computer science, with about 2,000 students, over 150 lecturers, and an increasing number of guest lecturers from companies and institutions in Lithuania and abroad. The members of the Faculty successfully participate in scientific and interdisciplinary projects in cooperation with external institutions and organizations. In 2020, the first cycle study programme “Artificial Intelligence” was successfully launched in the Computing study field.

KTU has cooperation agreements with more than 350 higher education institutions in 50 countries of the world. In 2022, the University carried out over 30 research and innovation projects under various programmes, such as Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe and others; more than 60 international study projects using EU Erasmus+, NORDPLUS, and other programmes.

Agne Paulauskaite-Taraseviciene

Project Manager and Senior Researcher

Agne Paulauskaite-Taraseviciene is a Professor at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and Head of the KTU Artificial Intelligence Centre. With extensive expertise in machine learning algorithms, image processing, and AI ethics, she has led numerous international and national research projects. As a co-author of AI-focused educational resources, including Moodle courses and a handbook on artificial intelligence, she plays a pivotal role in advancing the GenAISA project’s educational and research objectives.

Dalia Calneryte

Senior Researcher

Dalia Calneryte is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Informatics at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and a Senior Researcher for the GenAISA project. Her research expertise includes numerical analysis, machine learning algorithms, and image analysis. As a co-author of multiple Moodle courses on numerical methods and AI, she contributes valuable academic and practical insights to the project’s development and implementation.

Andrius Krisciunas

Senior Researcher

Andrius Krisciunas is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Informatics at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and a Senior Researcher for the GenAISA project. His research spans multidisciplinary models, optimization methods, image processing, and generative AI. As a collaborator on multiple Moodle courses related to numerical analysis and AI, he brings a strong interdisciplinary approach to the project’s research and educational initiatives.

Ingrida Lagzdinyte-Budnike

Senior Expert

Ingrida Lagzdinyte-Budnike is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Informatics at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and a Senior Expert for the GenAISA project. As the Head of several study programs, including “Artificial Intelligence” and “Artificial Intelligence in Computer Science,” she brings extensive experience in program development and course management. Her expertise ensures high-quality educational contributions to the project’s objectives.

Eglė Vaitkeviciene

Administrative Personnel

Eglė Vaitkeviciene serves as administrative personnel at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) and the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (NIVC). With experience in managing several international and national projects, she plays a key role in supporting the coordination and administrative aspects of the GenAISA project.
